Amanda is our office manager and expert on insurance issues, billing, scheduling and in general keeping the practice humming. She is from Connecticut originally (listen closely) but her father moved to Ft Carson so she’s a graduate of Mitchell High School. After a stint in the US Navy as a firefighter she started her career in general dentistry with Dr. Jim Nelson. Due to her great people skills and quick grasp of practice administration, she rose rapidly to the office manager position. After 5 years with Dr. Nelson she joined the corporate world for 5 years with Bright Now Dental eventually managing their specialty services in Colorado. Starting a family brought her back to the friendly environs of private practice and we benefit greatly from her wide ranging experience. She expands her expertise as a member of the Colorado Springs Dental Practice Management Group and taking Fred Pryor seminars. Amanda and Luke are the beaming parents of 1st grader Spencer.
Carmen, our lead orthodontic assistant, started life in Germany in a military family and spent quite a bit of time in Washington as well. She became a Certified Dental Assistant at PIMA Medical Institute in Colorado Springs. She worked in community health as well as for two other orthodontists so she has a wealth of experience. A strong general dentistry background is key to becoming a great orthodontic assistant. She is our go to expert to generate the quality xrays, photos and models used to treatment plan orthodontic patients. Behind the scenes she manages our inventory, laboratory products and sterilization quality control. Carmen is a wealth of orthodontic tips and tricks she has picked up over the years. Carmen is very excited as she is awaiting her 2nd grandchild soon to join Lydiana.
Lindsay also brings a wealth of life experience and education to the orthodontic world. She is a consummate multi-tasker splitting time between orthodontic assisting and front desk duties. You’ll often hear her happy voice confirming appointments. Lindsay attended Pikes Peak Community College, Loyal University and Peak Dental Assisting School. One of her more interesting jobs has been working on the crew of a cruise ship that traveled the West coast from Mexico to Sitka, Alaska. If she seems to be a bit of a Leprechaun she did work at Jack Quinn’s at one time. She is currently studying history at UCCS and she particularly enjoys WW I history which gives her something to talk about with Dr. Bentele. She hopes to eventually teach history in secondary education. She lives with her 3-year old Livy in Manitou Springs. Livy is cute as a bug and is an aspiring ballerina.
Casey is an orthodontic assistant and the latest addition to this wonderful staff. She is a graduate of Vista Ridge High School and Pima Medical Institute. Even though she had formal dental training her other work experiences prepared her perfectly for a career in orthodontics. She has worked in the restaurant industry and as a nanny. What better way to learn how to multi-task and take care of younger patients? She was able to do an orthodontic externship while at Pima so she came to us well prepared. You may still run into her hosting at Texas Roadhouse on the weekends. Casey attributes her photogenic qualities to lots of practice taking pictures for the cheerleader squad at Vista.
